The Opening Ceremony
Truly the most exciting part. Before the opening ceremony, the piper is called on to ‘Bring in the Clans!” The piper from the duty Band, Dunlap Highland Band, escorts the clans into the field.
They line up in front of the podium where they are called in name order to identify themselves. They shout out their individual ‘Battle Cry” and the Honored Clan Leader will approach the podium and be given a Gealic Greeting !
Each Pipe band then takes their post on the parade ground, and after they are formed the colors are posted and a small dedication takes place.
Now the best part. The Pipes and drums all march in Massed Band order. All together. What a magnificent sound !
