The Saint Andrew's Society of Maine is excited about the upcoming 45th Maine Highland Games and Scottish Festival on August 17th, 2024 at Thomas Point Beach.

We are a volunteer-run 501(c)3 (tax-deductible) non-profit organization dedicated to promoting and preserving Scottish culture and the rich heritage of Maine Scots. Our sponsors are critical to the continuing success of the Games and Festival as well as ongoing support of our mission.

The Maine Highland Games and Scottish Festival is the largest single-day Scottish Highland Games in New England and we are the Official Highland Games in Maine.

*There is a list of “Heavy Lifting” athletes. You will be asked to put them in the “Choice “ order you wish to sponsor. All of these athletes are pros and it really does not matter in the long run. It helps them all not just one.

This sponsorship is the first form turned in get their first choice, second get their second choice if the first has already been selected, and so on.*

VIP Tickets Include

  • VIP Tickets allow entry through the Main Gate, and grant access to the VIP Tent, Parade field-side seating, catered buffet lunch, cold soda, Tea, Coffee, and water throughout the day.

  • VIP Tickets get a free program.

  • VIP tickets have special tented areas of interest with water for their comfort and viewing pleasure. Example: Tent on the athletics field.

  • *VIP Tickets will have a specially scheduled time to meet our Elite and Pro Athletes, have their programs signed by the Athletes, and be able to take pictures.

  • Additional VIP tickets may be purchased for $175.00/$295.00 per couple at this discounted rate when requested with Sponsor submission. Seating is limited. Tickets will not be available at the Gate.

The Athletes

Kristine Rothwell

Age: 32
Occupation: Finish Carpenter, Track and Field Throws Coach
Location: Coeur d'Alene, Idaho
Favorite Event: Heavy weight for distance, Caber
Fun fact: My mom and I raise dairy goats and make artisan soap and cheese, as well as excellent sourdough bread.
Fun Fact 2: My husband, Kyle, and I have an Irish Wolfhound named Caber. He's big, awkward, and heavy...just like the real thing.

Kristine has thrice placed second - 2019, 2021, and 2022 - in the World Championships. For years now she has been in the top five of female Highland Games throwers in the world. She is from Coeur D'Alene, Idaho where she is a finisher at Desiree J Carpentry High School Throws Coach, and Iron Wood Throws Camp Director. Coming from a track and field family, her father was a well respected collegiate thrower. Before the Highland Games she threw shot, discus, hammer, and weight for the University of Idaho where she was a WAC conference champion and a first-round national qualifier. She started competing in the Highland Games in 2018, and continues to throw at the highest level in the sport.

Meagan McKee

Occupation: Teacher
Location: San Jose, California
Favorite Event: Hammers
Fun fact: She can move her nose and ears at the same time

Meagan is the 3 time and current reigning Women’s World Champion. She holds the World Record in both the Heavy and Light Hammers. At the rate she is going, many believe she will become the greatest of all time.

Felicia Baker

Age: 36
Occupation: Partner, Construction Management Firm
Location: Vista. Calinfornia
Favorite Event: All but Stones
Fun fact: She has been on two reality shows
Felicia is one of the most dynamic and entertaining athletes in the games today. She has competed in the Highland Games for 11 years now, and broke 5 World Records in the Women’s Lightweight division. She is married to fellow thrower Mike Baltren, and they have a 12 year old daughter.

Jarvina Routt

Favorite Event: Weights for Distance & Caber
Fun fact: She finds her center by listening to death metal.

Jarvina is one of the most thrilling athletes to watch on the field. She began Highland Games in 2016, and in 2017 she started competing in the Women’s Lightweight class. She quickly broke several world records and went on to win the 2018 Women’s Lightweight National Championship. Retiring from the Lightweight class in 2020, she recently earned Pro status with a stellar 2022 season. Born, raised, and still resides in sunny Southern California with her husband Stan and son Isaiah.

Spencer Tyler

Age: 39
Favorite Event: Weights for Distance, Weight Over Bar, Sheaf Toss
Fun fact: He is an excellent driver.

Spencer Tyler is the 2019 World Champion. He is the holder of 5 current World Records and is widely considered the greatest of all time by his peers. Having thrown Pro for so long, he bridges multiple generations and is the current hero of the Highland Games heavy athletics. He lives in Texas with his wife and two girls.

Vladislav Tuláček

Occupation: Highland Athlete
Location: Scotland
Fun fact: He dreams of riding his Harley Davidson off into the Scottish sunset almost every night.

Vlad is widely considered the best Caber tosser in the world today. Notable achievements include:

  • 2019 Royal Braemar Gathering Champion

  • 2022 World Caber Champion

  • 3-time 2nd finish in World Championships

  • 2020-2022, 2022 IHGF Champion, and

  • 2022 SHGA Champion. ….. AND

Garrett Blatnik

Age: 30
Occupation: Entrepreneur
Location: Memphis, Tennessee
Favorite Event: Sheaf
Fun fact: Although he owns multiple pizza restaurants, he actually is not fond of pizza

Garrett is one of the best entertainers in the Men’s Pro Division, ranking in the top ten for 2022. He owns multiple businesses and real estate in Tennessee. He provides a lot of support to the Highland Games in all of the South and travels to compete both domestically and internationally.

Nicholas “The Giant Killer” MacPhee
A LOCAL MAINER!

Age: 34
Occupation: Electrician
Location: Walpole, Maine
Favorite Events: Braemar, WOB
Fun fact: He is married to the Queen of his household, Sandy, and is father to two beautiful children: Marcus & Penelope
Fun Fact 2: He has 9 tattoos in the same spot and none of them are pretty.

Nick received the nickname “The Giant Killer” from the legendary Athletic Director Dr. Bill Crawford. He holds multiple World Records in the Lightweight division. He is a multiple World Record holder in powerlifting, and also has won Maine’s Strongest Man in the past!

Justin ‘Moose’ Gagne
A LOCAL MAINER!

Age: 32
Occupation: Analytics Manager, Epocrates
Location: Hampden, Maine

Fun fact: He can split twerk

Justin is a born and raised Mainer. Growing up throwing shotput, Justin attended the University of Maine and had a successful collegiate career, becoming the holder of their shot put and discus records. Maintaining his love of throwing, he founded the Highland Games in 2019 and has since become a Pro Athlete. A father of 2 boys, Ridley and Remi, he is the proud husband to his wife Sonja. He spends his spare time as the Bangor High School Throws Coach and competing in powerlifting and Strongman competitions.
